Meet the Slate
We’re your neighbors and we are running for the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation Board to bring transparency and accountability back to our community!
Brittany Russell
Brittany Russell is a trial lawyer. She is lead trial counsel at the law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. She has handled a variety of complex legal cases and has secured over $180 million in verdicts in favor of her clients during her career.
Brittany lives on Summer Street with her husband, Graham Amodeo, and their one year old daughter. Graham has served the people of Queens County for over ten years as an Assistant District Attorney at the Queens DA’s Office, where he currently works as a homicide prosecutor.
Brittany is running for a position on the FHGC board to restore peace to the neighborhood. Brittany is a founding member of FHG StandUp and believes in transparency and compromise. If elected she will work to resolve our legal disputes by negotiating a fair compromise where concerts continue with limits and with significant compensation to FHGC. She will also work to open our parks, which have been closed for too long and are an important part of quality of life in our beautiful neighborhood.
Jeffrey Mitchell
Jeff Mitchell and his wife Teresa have called Whitson Street home since 1999. A current and former member of the Gardens Corporation’s Legal Committee under Elizabeth Murphy and Bruce Eaton, Jeff helped draft the parking rules that still guide our neighborhood and worked to resolve shared maintenance issues for our parks.
A Partner at Ellis George LLP and a seasoned commercial trial attorney, Jeff knows when to fight, when to negotiate, and how to get results. He’s committed to helping our community navigate its current litigation challenges with fairness, sound judgment, and lasting protections for the neighborhood he’s long been proud to call home.
Brett Sharoni
A native New Yorker, Brett has lived in forest hills for four years with his wife and three children. Brett graduated from Stuyvesant high school, Johns Hopkins with a B.A. in economics and Harvard Business School with an M.B.A. With a 15 year career as an investor, Brett is currently an analyst and partner at Pzena Investment Management, a long-term fundamental fund. Brett has served as treasurer of his prior co-op board and advised and observed the boards of several large companies in his prior role as a private equity analyst.
Laura Singh
Laura Singh has lived in Forest Hills Gardens since May 2024. Although a newer resident, she has loved the neighborhood for many years, starting with a serendipitous drive through the Gardens with her now-husband, Jim. Later, while a graduate student pursuing a Master of Urban Planning at NYU, she studied Forest Hills Gardens in a course titled "The History and Theory of Urban Planning." Laura is the Land Use & Housing Director for New York City Council Member Julie Won of District 26 in Queens (Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, and Woodside). Over the course of her career, she has held professional roles at NYC public agencies, a private urban planning consulting firm, a housing and urban policy research institute, and a real estate financial lending institution.
Her background has given her foundational knowledge relating to historic preservation, land use law, zoning, real estate finance, urban design, and public community engagement. Laura feels lucky to live in this beautiful community and understands that our neighborhood has been so well preserved only through many years of careful planning and stewardship. She is running for a board seat so that she can contribute to that effort, helping to preserve Forest Hills Gardens for the enjoyment of future generations.
Kayur Patel
Kayur would be honored to serve on the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation Board for a second time. He previously held several roles as part of the board, including Treasurer, Chair of the Security Committee, and member of the Traffic and Finance Committees. In these positions, he contributed to enhancing the Gardens’ fiscal management, safety, and community operations.
A resident of the Gardens for over ten years, Kayur lives with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. He is a graduate of King’s College London and works in the finance industry. Kayur values the unique character of the Gardens and is committed to preserving its beauty and sense of community. In his spare time, he enjoys running and spending time with his family.
Susan Gregg
FHGStandup is proud to endorse Susan Gregg, a long-time former member of the FHGC Board. Sue’s problem solving nature embodies the commonsense approach needed by the Corporation’s next board.
Deborah Dillingham
A longtime Forest Hills Gardens resident, Deborah Dillingham brings deep community roots and leadership experience to her candidacy. Originally from New England, she’s lived in the Gardens for 27 years after first settling on Groton Street near the stadium.
Deborah holds degrees from Bates College and Harvard University and has built successful careers in both education and marketing, holding senior roles at Penguin USA and the Madame Alexander Doll Company. After raising her family here, she dedicated her time and professional skills to community service.
During her six years on the Gardens board, Deborah served as treasurer, executive committee member, and chair of several committees. She helped improve office operations, promote fair practices, strengthen financial systems, and advocate for important safety measures like stop signs near St. Luke’s and P.S. 101.
Beyond the Gardens, she has served as P.A. president at P.S. 101Q and the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, president of the Queens District 28 Community and Presidents’ Councils, and a Queens Borough President appointee to the NYC School Board.
Today, Deborah runs a college consulting practice, helping students and families navigate the admissions process. She’s running to ensure Forest Hills Gardens continues to be managed with fairness, transparency, and care—preserving the community’s beauty and spirit for generations to come.
